WhatsApp Downtime: WhatsApp and WhatsApp Web are both unavailable to all users.
WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging app owned by Meta and used by many for quick texting, is reportedly experiencing a problem. Currently, millions of WhatsApp users around the world are unable to send or receive messages.
The outage is affecting both personal and group chats, according to Indianexpress.com. DownDetector, an outage detection website, confirms that WhatsApp is down for many users across multiple regions.
The outage appears to be affecting WhatsApp Web as well, and we can confirm that the app's web client is also unable to connect to the WhatsApp servers, indicating a server-level outage rather than one that only affects the Android and iOS apps. Anyone attempting to use WhatsApp Web will be met with an error message similar to the one shown below.
This is WhatsApp's first major outage since the larger Meta outage on October 5, which brought down WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook simultaneously, affecting millions of users for several hours before the services were restored.
Meta is working on a solution.
WhatsApp's parent company, Meta, has acknowledged the outage and is working to resolve it. "We are aware that some people are currently experiencing difficulties sending messages, and we are working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as soon as possible," a Meta spokesperson told indianexpress.com.
We have yet to hear from Meta about what caused the outage.
