The Huracán Tecnica sits in the middle of the Huracán family, bridging the gap between the street-oriented EVO and the track-focused STO. It features a new front and rear fascia, as well as Y-shaped headlights inspired by the Sian, new hexagonal exhaust tips, and a fixed rear spoiler that is slightly smaller than the STO's.
More importantly, the Tecnica gets a STO heart transplant, a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine with 640 horsepower and 417 pound-feet of torque, a 30 horsepower increase over the EVO RWD, and a 0-100 km/h time of 3.2 seconds. The 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and rear-wheel steering remain unchanged, but Lamborghini has tweaked the electronics, traction control system, fixed-ratio steering, and brake cooling for a more civilized and focused Huracán that can exploit both the road and the track. Whether you call it a STO Touring or a STO-lite, we expect it to be one of the more comfortable mid-engine supercars to wear the yellow bull badge.
"They wanted a car that drivers could use every day, for both the racetrack and social life," Andrea Baldi, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini America, said when we asked why the Tecnica is so important to the brand. All of the electronics were tweaked to be a little different from the STO and more enjoyable to drive."

When asked about the future of this mid-engined supercar, Andrea tells us that the Huracán was first introduced in 2014, and that a new hybridized model will be available in 2024. The new hybrid Aventador will be the first to arrive. It's debatable whether the V10 will still be used, especially since McLaren and Ferrari, two of its direct competitors, have both switched to V6 engines. Nonetheless, we have high hopes for the storied brand. When we asked if there would be a final send-off model like the Aventador Ultimae, the Italian executive smirked and said there might be a surprise at the end of the year, so stay tuned.
Otherwise, the Tecnica is a fitting send-off for one of Lamborghini's most successful models, combining the best of the STO with the civility and road mannerisms of the EVO. With an MSRP of $279,630, the Tecnica should be in Canadian showrooms by the end of this year, though there is currently a one-year wait time. Despite semiconductor shortages, Lamborghini claims that their low production volumes and high margins ensure that they are given first priority for parts in the Volkswagen Group family.
